Description: In this listing we are offering a rare original cdv photo of a photographer with his camera. The studio camera has a tripod comprised of turned wooden legs. It is likely that this is J. C. Lesher the photographer that is shown in the photo. But, we do not know for certain. We have been told that J. C. Lesher operated his studio in Carlisle from 1864-1870. We have heard from someone else that J.C. Lesher worked in Carlisle only from 1864-1866 & then moved to Shippensburg, Pa. Also, there was an H. C. Lesher who worked in Carlisle as a photographer. They were possibly brothers. But, we do not know this for sure & have not found any dates of operation for H. C. Lesher. The back of the matt has the wording "Photographed by J. C. Lesher, Carlisle, Pa. Zug's Building S. E. Corner of Market Square." The photo is of excellent quality & has superb contrast. The card measures 3 25/32 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide. The top & bottom borders have had in period trim to expedite album insertion. The bottom right corner tip has a small chip. Our item reference is #5049.
