Description: This listing is for drive gear #7082 for classic ABU Ambassadeur reels. Application of this part is in wide range from 5000 5000A, 5000B, 5000C, 5000De Luxe, to 6000, 6000C models.This is their original production gear in steel alloy. As usual, you can see oil stain marks. The difference between #5126, and another drive gear #7072 for above models is the location of the clicker plate outer side of the drive gear. This earlier version of the drive gear has a drag washer closer to the core (center). That is the reason why you cannot tighten drag enough. That is a rule of leverage!In 1960's ABU noticed (Maybe because of claims that the spool kept moving no matter how you tighten the drag (by turning the starwheel) and changed the location of the drag washer toward outside. Drag washer was also replaced at the same time. If you are fixing older type of above models, and need a drive gear, check the location of the drag washer before purchasing.
