In 2001 Philip Johnson proclaimed this was his best architectural building to be erected. . .then 911 happened! The Vendome Group, a property owner/manager of 25 years in New York City and New Jersey, also the owner of Nino's restaurant (Antonio Nino Vendome) selected and commissioned Philip Johnson in 2000 - 2001. Vendome Group, the publisher of this poster, also advocated on Philip Johnson's behalf for this condominium to be built as a HABITABLE SCULPTURE - work of art/living sculpture, just not a skyscrapper for Hudson Square a historical community. Petitions were warranted to elicit and favor with support of sponsors and Habitable Sculpture posters. Additionally, these posters were displayed in selected street telephone stands ad enclosures within around the community. 2002 - through 2004 Philip Johnson and Vendome Group has gain national support as posters, 10 models created by Philip Johnson, and his studies for this project went into museum collections. But Philip Johnson died in 2015 without approval of zoning and among other things. This last project, The Habitable Sculpture never materialized! Disappointed, Vendome Group abandoned this project, and sold their property and stakes to other developers and architect firm that built a different 'inspired' Philip Johnson building (on his New Canaan's Glass House) called, The Urban Glass House; now only 12 stories, glass facade, and different designed interior. Antonio Nino Vendome became a close friend of Philip Johnson while alive, and vowed that he will take Philip Johnsons original project, The "HABITABLE SCULPTURE" and build it elsewhere.
