These are special made for bunkbeds because we have drilled holes to screw them down onto your rail ledge ( if it is a wood bunkbed ) and includes screws. You will need a power driver to screw them in but if the slat boards are snug, you may not use them. We have shortened the gap distance to 3 1/2" so that there is little space between these boards. These platforms can be used on both metal frames with tubes going across or wood bunkbeds with ledges. This bed platform will provide the kids solid, strong and safe support you need for bunkbeds and their mattresses. These can be used in conjunction with existing slats or a bunky board if they do not provide enough strength. They provide a firm foundation with the wide boards approximately 3 1/2" apart and the Plywood is 3/4" thick and about 5 plys with rounded edges. Lay directly on your bed frame, rails or existing slats and increase your firmness and support.They are held together with a strapping material to keep the platform in position. Please measure the width of your bed prior to purchasing your slats. Allow 1/8" play on either side of the bed frame when measuring to allow a bit of room when placed. For example, if your measurement across is 38" from inside edge to inside edge, then you would order -1/8,-1/8 (1/4") = 37 3/4" width.
