And section four; Prohibition of multiplicity of votes. This was not to stop people acquiring multiple votes in different constituencies, plural voting was still permitted, but to restrict sub-division of one property to qualify multiple voters. The demonstration is described as "To say that the result fairly exceeded the most sanguine expectations of the promoters and the public is but faintly to describe the entirenness of its success". Created and published by The Hamilton Liberal Association which was led by Alexander Mitchell, Member of Parliament for Berwick-upon-Tweed. CONDITION In original red cloth binding with gilt text to the front board. Externally, cloth is slightly faded and is a trifle rubbed. Hinges are slightly strained. Internally, binding tender with some pages detached but present. Pages are bright, with foxing to front and back endpapers.
