Description: GATEWAY P-6831FX LAPTOP This is a vintage laptop that unfortunately has some GPU damage probably due to age. Lots of artifacts appear on the screen. No signal is detected when a VGA and/or a HDMI cable is attached. Numerous graphics drivers have been tested, the current one installed was from Windows Update. This is a very common issue with this particular model. The BIOS has been updated to 94.28.00, however this has not resolved the issue. This appears to be an American model with a USA keyboard. The original box is included along with a lot of extras including the documentation. I have installed a new CMOS battery and cleaned the interior. All keys are working along with the touchpad and USB ports. There are no issues with the audio that I could hear. The wi-fi card is missing. The battery is included, however please assume this is not working due to age. Two chargers are included. The original Gateway charger does not work. On turning the laptop on there is typically a blank screen. The OS will load however nothing appears on the screen. This is how I proceed to correct this. A: Press the power button and then press F2 to enter the BIOS. A beep will be heard, and the BIOS menu will be accessed, however this will not be seen as there will be a blank screen. B: Leave for a few minutes. C: Turn the machine off, then press the Power button again to turn back on. D: The Gateway splash screen should appear, and the OS will load. If this does not occur turn the machine off and go back to A and try again. E : The DVD drive does not work and is not recognized. The screen will hang for a few minutes at the Splash screen while the BIOS tries to detect the DVD Drive. Removing the DVD Drive will resolve the hanging issue. I have installed an Operating System Windows 7 Starter 32BIT with SP1 on a freshly partitioned and formatted hard drive. This is not the original hard drive. The Vista COA has been covered in the photos. This laptop has the following specifications as well. There is room for two internal SATA drives, two caddies are provided. There are a number of interfaces and ports including a VGA Port, HDMI Port, Lan Port, DVD-RW Drive (Not Working), 3 USB Ports, 1394 Port, eSATA Port, Bluetooth, and Headphone and Microphone Socket. Also included is a built in Webcam. The casing is in great condition overall with no serious damage or cracks. The screen appears to be in good condition despite the artifacts due to the GPU.
