Popular among the Latino community, Jose was born in Puerto Rico and has worked as a Spanish language radio broadcaster for the Rangers and he also holds a charity tournament each year in the fall to raise money for Alzheimer's patients. The righthander threw a one-hit complete game in April 1993 and he won the 1991 Comeback Player of the Year Award.
