Tasting the Sky: A Palestinian Childhood, 2007, 176 pages, paperback. This is a true story about a girl who grew up in Palestine, a Muslim who grew up in Israeli controlled territory. A very sad story but with a good ending. Book has been well read and is in acceptable condition, writing on inside front cover and a library card on inside back cover. No other writing in book. 3. Claudette Colvin: Twice Toward Justice by Phillip Hoose, 2009, 150 pages. True story of an African American girl who took a stand against discrimination before Rosa Parks. A truly amazing story, very well written, this book has won numerous awards and really is a must read for students studying civil rights. This book has been well read, has writing on inside front cover, no other writing. Book is worn but is in acceptable to good condition. 4. Red Scarf Girl: A Memoir of the Cultural Revolution by Ji-Li Jiang; 1997, 285 pages, paperback. A true story about a young girl growing up in China during the Cultural Revolution, in a Communist country. This is an amazing story, a must read for students studying modern Chinese history. Will make one appreciate the freedoms we have here in America Book is in good condition, has writing on inside front cover only. 5. Amelia Lost: The Life and Disappearance of Amelia Earhart by Candace Fleming; hardback, 2011, 118 pages. Story of Amelia Earhart, American pilot who disappeared while flying her airplane in the Pacific Ocean. Lots of pictures. Book is in good/very good condition despite being a former public library book. Has writing on inside front cover and the library stamp/stickers but otherwise in good to very good condition. These books were part of my classroom library when I taught 8th grade. They are great for adults and for children, and are exceptional for middle school, grades 5 and up. I retired and am passing these books on to others who might read and enjoy them. Shipping is determined by zip code.
