Description: Civil War Store Card for Frank L. Gay, Bookseller and Stationer in Providence, Rhode IslandFuld RI700E-2j slabbed as -2c (German Silver) R-7 NGC MS-65 Rare variety and Finest Known among all certified tokensMr. Gay obtained store card tokens from an unidentified token maker believed to be in operation in the Providence area. The same die pair used to strike this token was used to strike both copper and brass tokens intended for use in commerce. Those token varieties are somewhat uncommon. This variety is a rare German silver numismatic strike. The production of this and other rare varieties were commissioned by the Numismatic Association of Rhode Island for sale to Civil War era numismatists. The pictures do not do justice to this high quality token. According to the NGC Census and the PCGS Population Report, it is the finest known specimen among all certified tokens. It was slabbed prior to the publication of the third edition store card book and the attribution on the slab label is the old attribution for this variety.Shipping is free. Should this token fail to meet your expectations, it can be returned within 30 days for a full refund. Sales tax, if applicable, is collected by Ebay and submitted directly to state authorities. We appreciate your business!
