Ajrakh hand block print is a centuries old technique - the wooden blocks are carved by hand and used as 'stamps', however, the ajrakh is far more complex because it not only involves the printing, but also applying a solution, also in patterns, to make certain colours lighter, and give multi-dimensional effect. Producing one piece of fabric in ajrakh takes several days and often several weeks. In the distant past, the ajrakh was reserved for royalty and the most influential members of the society, and this coat is certainly fit for royals! As you can see from the photos, the coat can be styled in various ways, and it will look great with many different outfits. The combination of ajrakh, and kantha hand stitch, which is also a very old craft, gives this coat a unique, quality, hand-made look. Two pockets on both sides.
