Description: Waltham 18s 17 Jewel Model 1892 Pocket watch. The movement serial number is 12017086 - model 1892, grade Appleton Tracy & Co. manufactured in 1901. The movement is still running and keeping good time 123 years after manufacture! The watch case is a nice Gold Filled case made by the Fahys Watch Case Company. This case is marked to wear "Permanently" however there is brass showing through the Gold layer on the pendant, the side of the center ring and a thin sliver on the edge of the back lid. So much for being permanent! The front bezel and rear lid both screw on/off fine, there is a notable gouge on the front bezel. This case has an engraving on the back of the watch, the engraving is worn from use, but the details are still visible. Please see pictures for this. The crystal is a new glass crystal from White's Crystals. The watch has a worn Gold Filled bow, and worn Gold Filled crown both showing a lot of brass. The double sunk porcelain-enamel dial has medium black numerals with red 5-minute markers. This dial is in nice condition, with hairline cracks at 11:00, 2:00, 4:00 and 8:00 in the outer ring. The thin spade style steel hands are blue, the second hand is also blued. The movement is 17 jewels, the balance wheel has good motion, and the movement has been cleaned and is in running order. This movement received a new alloy mainspring as part of the service. The Waltham Appleton Tracy & Co. watches beautifully finished movements with highly decorated damaskeening, polished steel work, gold plated regulator and jewel settings. This watch is a lever set movement. To set the time, unscrew the front bezel, use your fingernail to gently pull out the setting lever (at 2:00) and then use the crown to set the time. Push the setting lever back in, replace the front bezel, and then use the crown to wind the watch. Check the picture showing the lever pulled out. The watch has been recently serviced, is running and keeps time to within a few minutes each day. These old pocket watches make fun gifts for friends and family. USA Sales Only Please.
