Description: Our SP Steam show begins with 1930's black and white footage in the Tehachapi range which includes riding in the cab of a cab forward, number 4100. Then we enjoy some color and black and white footage of ferries in the San Francisco Bay then ride the famous Coast Daylight from Los Angeles toward San Francisco, including some meets, and a helper over Cuesta Grade. This footage is black and white and Color. We move to the Sierra Nevada and see mainly Cab Forwards in pusher service with Black Widow F-units up front. A little viewed area is the Siskiyou Line which splits from the mainline at Black Butte. We ride trains 327 and 328 in this mountain region just before those trains were terminated. There is a wide variety of action in the Bay Area including Oakland, Oakland Mole Station, West Oakland diamond, engine service area, and San Francisco, where we ride a train to Los Gatos, and see other action. At West Oakland Roundhouse we see the now famous GS4 4-8-4 number 4449 in "Warbaby" black livery without the skirts. Our final segment is a parade of trains and transportation for the celebration opening the Los Angeles Union Passenger Station in 1939. There are Southern Pacific, Union Pacific and Santa Fe locomotives in this segment. Much of the footage is from original 8mm silent movies from the Ken Shattock Collection. We have it professionally transferred to video, and its now all on this DVD. Music and informative historical narration have been added, and we think you will find this to be a great addition to your steam library. Mostly color but some black and white. 56 Minutes plus additional previews.
