Our Great Lakes Freighter is patterned after a St. Lawrence canaller. It is also suitable for most modeling eras, as these boats sailed from the turn of the century, with some surviving up into the early 1980's. Common commodities for these boats would include coal, grain, cement, and iron ore. Kit includes all parts, fittings, and accessories for a complete model, including etched brass stanchions, and a fully detailed wheelhouse interior. Main structural assembly is simplified by the use of one piece castings. Model measures 19.25 in length and 3.25 wide, representing a 258' long freighter. Additional mid-sections (described below) are available separately for those who require a longer boat. Condition: Factory New (C-9All original; unused; factory rubs and evidence of handling, shipping and factory test run.
