Description: * * * * SOUTHERN SILVER FROM CHARLESTON, S C * * * * For sale is an antique Southern solid sterling silver sugar shell spoon in the ORIENTAL pattern retailed by William Carrington & Co. of Charleston, South Carolina. This spoon measures 6 5/8" long and weighs 38 grams (1.34 troy oz.) Marks: J.P. (for John Polhamus maker), PATENT 1855, WM. CARRINGTON & Co. and STERLING. The spoon is in very good used condition. Nice original patina with some wear visible on the bottom of the bowl. Note the spoon was not cleaned - I will leave that task to the future owner. There is no monogram.
